About Upcycling

Upcycling is also known as creative reuse, the process of transforming by-products, waste materials or unwanted products into new materials or products perceived to be of greater quality or environmental value. In our case, upcycling means we work with local farmers, grocers, food producers and manufacturers to rescue the produce that would normally be destined for the landfill and upcycle it into finely milled, nutrient-dense powders. They are in turn sold to other companies committed to sustainability and used in all of our supplements.

Check out our "Our Process " page for a full walk through of the journey.

We intentionally have established our manufacturing and distribution facilities to operate within close proximity to farms and our other partners. It's our goal to work with local farmers as much as possible to reduce the carbon footprint of our sustainable supply chain.

Other

To further reduce our impact on the environment, we sell our Outcast Protein in large 2lb bags. A price per gram comparison with other plant-based protein powders on the market will show great value and a positive environmental play in the process. We are also proudly produced in Canada to minimize shipping emissions in our supply chain. We use patent-pending technology that retains the valuable micro and phytonutrients in our rescued fruits and vegetables We put a lot work turning imperfect produce into perfect nutrition.

Our headquarters are in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. It stands to reason that a company focused on leading the upcycling movement would be established in a place that is so closely connected to the agricultural industry. Under the same premise in the Halton Region, we are expanding with a new 45,000 square foot facility which will open in Burlington, Ontario later this month.

We currently only ship to Canada and the US. But stay tuned - we're growing. Where would you like to see us next?

Yes we do. If you're interested in submitting a request or becoming part of ambassador community please drop us a line at info@outcastfoods.com.

Packaging & Shipping

Our Outcast Protein and SuperGreens bags are recyclable and made from biodegradable and compostable material.

Make sure the bag is completely empty and recycle it. Or better yet, reuse it to store dog treats, yarn, flour, or pack them up with snacks for hike.

Shipping will take anywhere from 5 to 7 business days.

We ship our sample bundles sustainably using letter mail, which is less packaging and better for the environment.

Yes. Our products are 100% plant-based, vegan, of-the-earth. We use plants and we make sure our sustainable protein tastes delicious.

Outcast's plant-based protein has a higher nutrient-density and is more environmentally friendly than whey. In fact, Outcast uses 400% less water than whey! Plant-Based upcycled protein gives you the 'peas' of mind that what you’re putting in your body is clean, healthy and sustainable. Plant-based protein is better, there, we said it.

Our products are for anyone who loves an incredible tasting protein shake or super effective supplement. No matter what you eat during the rest of the day, you can be sure you'll enjoy your clean, sustainably produced, delicious Outcast products, while save the planet, too.

We carefully source our raw materials from trusted partners in North America and are making our products in small batches in Canada. Every batch is tested for a number of items including heavy metals.

Although our products are nut-free, they are made in a facility that also processes tree nuts. Certain products contain coconut.

Our products are sugar-free. We do use Stevia in some products, a natural sweetener derived from the leaves of the Stevia Plant.

All the nutritious ingredients in our products are from upcycled produced. However, we do use some natural flavouring in a few products. As an example, our SuperGreens are flavoured with pineapple and coconut.

Yes, our products are safe but we recommend that you consult with your healthcare professional before consuming our products while pregnant or nursing.

Our Outcast Protein and SuperGreens are great for kids. Even better, our younger fans won’t know they’re getting a few servings of fruits and vegetables when you make them a chocolate smoothie.

Outcast Protein scoops range from 30.1 g to 32.9 g - about a 1/4 cup.
A scoop of SuperGreens is 5.3 g, or about one tablespoon.

You treat our protein just like you would treat any protein powder. You can put it in your smooth, shake or even us for baking. Most people enjoy it as a shake or smoothie or combined with water or plant milk. Just mix one scoop (or a sample pack) with 12 to 16 ounces of liquid. Experience - it depends how thick you like yours and if you are adding fruits or vegetables as well.
